Description:
A playlist is an ordered list of tracks. Streams play a playlist, so you need at least one playlist with a ready track before you can set up music on hold.
This article will show you how to do the following:
- Create and edit a playlist.
- Add, reorder and remove tracks.
- Delete a playlist.
Create a playlist:
- Open Bard and select the Playlists tab.
- Click New Playlist.
- Enter a Name. It is required and must be unique within the account.
- Optional: enter a Description.
- Choose a Play Mode:
-
Sequential – Plays tracks in the order shown, then starts again from the top.
-
Shuffle – Plays tracks in a random order.
- Click Save.
Change a playlist's settings:
- Click the gear (Settings) icon in the playlist's row.
- Change the name, description or play mode.
- Click Save.
Add tracks:
- Click the list (Edit Playlist) icon in the playlist's row.
- Click Add Track.
- Click the + icon next to each track you want to add. The icon changes to a check mark once it is added.
- Click Close when you are done.
- Only tracks with a Ready status are listed. Tracks that are still processing or have failed will not appear.
- Tracks already in the playlist are not listed. A track can only be in a playlist once.
- New tracks are added to the end of the playlist.
- If you see "No tracks available to add", every ready track is already in the playlist, or no tracks are ready yet.
Reorder tracks:
- Open the playlist with the list icon.
- Drag a track up or down to its new position.
The new order saves automatically and you will see "Order saved." If saving fails, the list goes back to its previous order.
The order only matters when the play mode is Sequential.
Remove a track:
- Open the playlist with the list icon.
- Click Remove on the track and confirm.
This removes the track from the playlist only. The track stays in the Track Library.
Changes to a playlist that is on air:
- When you add, remove or reorder tracks, every enabled stream using the playlist is updated automatically. You do not need to publish again.
- Callers may keep hearing the current track until it finishes.
Delete a playlist:
- Click the trash icon in the playlist's row.
- Confirm the deletion. This cannot be undone.
Warning: Bard does not stop you from deleting a playlist that a stream is using. The stream is left with no playlist. Before deleting, check the Streams tab and assign a different playlist to any stream that uses this one, especially the stream that is active as music on hold.
Deleting a playlist does not delete its tracks.
