Bard - Track Library

Description:

The Track Library is where you upload and manage the audio files used for music on hold.

This article will show you how to do the following:

• Upload a track.
• Understand track statuses.
• Preview, rename and delete tracks.

Upload a track:

1. Open Bard and select the Track Library tab.
2. Click Upload Track.
3. Drag an audio file into the dialog, or click to browse for one.
4. Optional: enter a Name. If left blank, the file name is used.
5. Click Upload.

You will see "Track uploaded — processing started." The track appears in the table and its status updates on its own. You do not need to refresh the page.

File requirements:

• Maximum size: 50 MB.
• Supported formats: MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AAC / M4A, WebM audio and AIFF.
• There is no maximum length.
• Every upload is converted to a standard MP3 for playback. You do not need to convert files yourself.
• The audio of a track cannot be replaced after upload. To change it, upload a new track.

Track statuses:

Status	Meaning
Probing	Bard is checking that the file is valid audio and reading its length.
Transcoding	Bard is converting the file to the standard playback format.
Ready	The track can be previewed and added to playlists.
Failed	The file could not be processed. Hover over the status to see the reason. The track must be deleted and uploaded again. There is no retry.
Pending / Uploading	Reserved for the upload stage. You will normally not see these.

A normal upload goes Probing → Transcoding → Ready. Processing usually takes a short time, depending on file length.

Common failure reasons:

• "not decodable audio" – The file is not real audio, has no audio in it, or is damaged. Check that the file plays on a computer, then re-export or convert it and upload again.
• Messages that mention ffmpeg or ffprobe – The file could not be read or converted, usually because it is corrupt or in an unusual encoding. Re-export the file as MP3 or WAV and upload again.
• Messages that mention "could not fetch", "download failed" or "publish failed" – A temporary storage problem. Delete the track and upload it again. If it keeps happening, escalate to the development team.

Preview a track:

1. Click the Play icon in the track's row.
2. A player opens below the row. Click Close player to close it.

The Play icon is greyed out until the track is Ready.

Rename a track:

1. Click the gear icon in the track's row.
2. Enter the new name and click Save.

• Names must be 1–255 characters and unique within the account.
• Renaming does not affect playlists or streams that use the track.

Delete a track:

1. Click the trash icon in the track's row.
2. Confirm the deletion. This cannot be undone.

A track cannot be deleted while it is in any playlist, even a playlist that no stream is using. Remove it from every playlist first. See Bard - Playlists.

Troubleshooting:

Message	What to do
File is too large. Maximum size is 50 MB.	Shorten the file or export it at a lower quality, then upload again.
Unsupported file type.	Convert the file to MP3 or WAV and upload again.
Upload failed. Please try again.	Try again. If the name is already used by another track, choose a different name.
Rename failed. Please try again.	The name may already be used by another track. Choose a different name.
This track can't be deleted — it's used in a playlist.	Remove the track from every playlist, then delete it.
This track is still processing — try again shortly.	Wait until the status shows Ready, then play it.
This track failed to process and can't be played.	Delete the track and upload the file again.
Playback is temporarily unavailable.	Wait a moment and try again.
No tracks found.	The account has no tracks yet, or nothing matches your search.
