How to Spot a Phishing Email
Phishing emails try to trick you into clicking links, opening attachments, or sharing passwords. Here's how to identify them.
Red Flags
- Urgent language — "Act now!", "Your account will be suspended"
- Suspicious sender — hover over the From address — does it match the company?
- Generic greeting — "Dear User" instead of your name
- Spelling/grammar errors — legitimate companies proofread
- Unexpected attachments — especially .zip, .exe, or .html files
- Mismatched links — hover over links to see where they really go
What to Do
- Don't click any links or open attachments
- Report it — use the Phish Alert Report button in Outlook (top right)
- Or email us — forward the suspicious email to help@audian.com
- Delete it after reporting
